On the hunt for the island's best local wine lists

In celebration of Tasmania’s stellar local wine and food offerings, applications for the 2024 Tasmanian Wine List of the Year program are now invited. All Tasmanian venues championing the island’s exceptional wine – including restaurants, bars, cafes, pubs and wine retailers – are encouraged to enter the awards program, which is now in its seventh year.

Wine Tasmania CEO Sheralee Davies said:
“Tasmania’s reputation for crafting some of the best wine on the planet is continuing to drive strong, high yielding visitation to our regional cellar doors and a growing fanbase both at home and abroad. A quarter of all visitors to Tasmania called into a cellar door during the 12 months to March 2024*, while 40% of Tasmanian wine is sold and consumed on-island. These visitors are travelling into our regional areas and enjoying a range of dining, hospitality and retail experiences in addition to visiting our cellar doors.”

“Our local hospitality and retail businesses play a crucial role in inspiring guests and sharing stories of the island’s producers. Through the Tasmanian Wine List of the Year program, we seek to recognise and reward those venues going the extra mile to share what it is that makes Tassie, its wine and talented wine producers so awesome."
Four key award categories in the Tasmanian Wine List of the Year program recognise venues in Launceston, Hobart and regional areas, in addition to a category focused on small but high-quality wine lists. The overall Judges’ Choice award is then chosen from these four winners, while the People’s Choice award - increasing in participation each year - will invite the public to vote for their favourite venue from a list of finalists.

Tasmanian on-premise and off-premise licensed venues - regardless of size - are encouraged to nominate at winetasmania.com.au/wloty by 30 September 2024. Finalists will be announced on 7 October and the People’s Choice voting campaign will commence at this time, with all the winners scheduled to be announced on 5 November.
