Wine trade champions invited to visit Tasmania

Wine Tasmania is hosting another personalised wine adventure for champions of the island’s outstanding wine this May 2025 and applications are now invited.

The itinerary on 25-27 May provides a behind-the-scenes experience of island life and includes flights, accommodation, local produce, transport and (of course) plenty of exceptional Tassie wine for 10 lucky guests. The 2025 visit will be based around the island’s south and is supported by the Tasmanian Government.

Places in the Wine Tasmania national wine trade visitation program, limited to ten in total and one of which will be selected by Sommeliers Australia, are available to wine buying professionals from across Australia. The visit is open to people who are directly responsible for wholesale wine purchasing within their mainland-based restaurant, wine bar or wine retail business, with applications assessed on a competitive basis.

Wine Tasmania and Sommeliers Australia are pleased to confirm a new partnership on the May 2025 visitation program. This will offer a dedicated place in the visit for one of Sommeliers Australia’s members, to be selected by Sommeliers Australia. The selected participant will have the chance to host a post-visit masterclass in their home state in collaboration with Sommeliers Australia.

Wine Tasmania’s CEO Sheralee Davies said:

“We’ve been blown away by the high calibre of interstate wine trade applicants for this popular visitation program, which has hosted more than 140 influential interstate buyers over the past decade. With places for each visit hotly contended, it’s been rewarding and humbling to see how the knowledge of Tasmania’s great wines, talented growers and makers has increased over the years.”

“These national wine trade visits provide an unparalleled opportunity for our chosen guests to explore the island and interact with our wine producers, developing an understanding of the depth, diversity and regionality of our outstanding wines. We know demand for Tasmania’s wines often exceeds our annual wine production and that many wines can be hard to find in interstate venues, so these visits provide an important connection between Australia’s top restaurants, wine bars and retailers and Tasmania’s highly regarded wine producers.”

Applications for Wine Tasmania’s May 2025 National Wine Trade Visitation Program are now open, closing on 11 April, with selected participants confirmed from 17 April and the visit taking place on 25-27 May.

Local Tasmanian wine trade champions are also being hosted by Wine Tasmania in 2025 on two visits in the north and south of the island during the busy vintage period. Applications were invited from local hospitality and retail representatives, with ten successful participants in both visits to be confirmed shortly.
