Grape Testing Rebate Is Now Open

The Tasmanian Government, through the Accelerating Agriculture policy, is providing an emergency fund of $100,000 to support rapid and early scientific grape testing by wine businesses in the case of future bushfire events. Vineyards are particularly susceptible to smoke exposure, which can irreparably damage wine grapes and destroy the livelihood of wine producers. Wine Tasmania strongly encourages Tasmanians living in grape growing areas to think about and discuss the impacts of smoke with neighbouring vineyards before lighting fires, particularly during autumn. A short postponement of a fire may be all that is needed to prevent irreparable damage to this year's wine grapes. View further details on how smoke can impact and damage vineyards here.
