Small Wonder

Small Wonder Main

Nestled within native bushland on the Western Ridge of the Tamar Valley is where you'll find us. We're a 35-minute drive from Launceston and a one-hour drive from the Spirit of Tasmania ferry terminal in Devonport, and it's worth the trip wherever you're coming from.

Our 20-hectare vineyard was planted in 1998 and converted to Certified Organic in 2022. The vines span a diverse array of soil types, with our aromatic whites – Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, and Pinot Gris – preferring the grey sand at the top of the vineyard. Our Chardonnay and Pinot Noir plantings transition gently down the slope, with grey silt loam tending to red silt clay loam and Ferris mudstone.

Completed in January 2024, our winery was designed and built with energy efficiency and environmental credibility in mind. With a state-of-the-art wastewater treatment system, rainwater harvesting and storage, electricity generation via solar panels, and on-site electric vehicle charging stations, every aspect of the facility was designed with sustainability and functionality at the forefront. Not to mention the surrounding land and vegetation management, which focused on preserving existing bushland and establishing additional natural habitat areas to encourage biodiversity. We are incredibly proud to say our wines are now fully Certified Organic as well as 100% grown, made and bottled on-site.

Small Wonder wines truly reflect the unique characteristics of Northern Tasmania. They show freshness, detail, and vivacity, offering a one-of-a-kind tasting experience. We invite you to join us for a relaxed tasting and gourmet platter while soaking in the stunning views from our Small Wonder Cellar Door.
