Tassie’s Top Wine Lists Announced & New Wine Trails Released

The winners of the 2024 Tasmanian Wine List of the Year awards were announced at the Tassie Wine Stars event on 5 November, with the highest accolade – the Judges' Choice Award for the Best Tasmanian Wine List – being awarded to long-serving Launceston dining institution Black Cow Bistro.

Category winners were also announced, with Black Cow Bistro collecting another award (Best Tasmanian Wine List – Hobart or Launceston), Stanley Wine Bar (Best Tasmanian Small Bar Wine List) and The Old Bank of Geeveston (Best Tasmanian Wine List – Regional), while the public voted for Cradle Mountain Wilderness Village as the People’s Choice Tasmanian Wine List of the Year.

Wine Tasmania CEO Sheralee Davies congratulated all the award winners as well as each of the 15 finalist venues (listed below):

"As the quality of wine and food experiences in Tasmania continues to increase, so does the calibre of entrants in this awards program. The difficult task of selecting the winners from a competitive list of 15 finalists also saw special mention of three highly commended venues - T42 Hobart, The Agrarian Kitchen (New Norfolk) and 2023 winner Grain of the Silos (Launceston)."

Wine Tasmania also released the new 2025 edition of its Tasmanian Wine Trails publication. This brochure, concierge map and accompanying online directory serves as the go-to guide for visiting Tasmania’s cellar doors across four parts of the state - the North-West, Tamar Valley, East Coast and Southern Wine Trails respectively.

With Tourism Tasmania this week launching a new campaign encouraging locals to get out and explore closer to home this summer, Wine Tasmania is encouraging locals and visitors alike to put the Tasmanian Wine List of the Year venues and experiences showcased in the 2025 Tasmanian Wine Trails publication on the bucket list.

"We Tasmanians are spoiled for choice when it comes to extraordinary wine and food experiences. The word is definitely out, with 23% of all visitors to Tassie in the year to June 2024 calling into a cellar door during their stay, staying longer in our regional areas and spending more than other visitor segments", said Ms Davies.
