Local and national wine trade champions invited to tour Tasmania
Wine Tasmania is again hosting personalised wine expeditions for local and interstate champions of the island’s outstanding wine in April and May 2026.
Applications are now open from wine trade and hospitality professionals for the 2026 Tasmanian and National Wine Trade visitation programs, supported by the Tasmanian Government. These tailored trade visits provide a behind-the-scenes experience, connecting guests with the talented growers and makers and (of course) a range of exceptional Tassie wines.
For local wine trade, the Tasmanian Trade Visits on Monday 13 April (north) and Monday 20 April (south) take place during the busy harvest period. This allows participants to experience the energy of vintage with a possible tasting or two of wines undergoing fermentation. Ten places are available for each visit.
Wine Tasmania’s National Trade Visit will take place from Sunday 24 to Tuesday 26 May. Based in southern Tasmania, but featuring wines from around the island, this will be a multi-day immersion into great food, scenery and people through the lens of wine. Places are available to interstate wine buying professionals and limited to ten in total, one of which will be selected by Sommeliers Australia.
Wine Tasmania CEO Sheralee Davies says the programs play a vital role in connecting wine trade with the island’s producers.
“The best way to really explore and understand a wine region, particularly one as diverse as Tasmania, is to visit firsthand. Kick the dirt, feel the weather, taste the produce, explore the geography, soils, topography and landscapes, and meet the people who have chosen to grow grapes and make wine in Tasmania.”
