Five minutes with Rita & Bob Richter from Grey Sands Vineyard
July 29 2015What artist / song inspires you both in your jobs?
Rita: When I'm working out in the vineyard, I love to listen to 'Conversations with Richard Fidler'...there are so many amazing Australians doing incredible things in all areas of life. Otherwise I like to listen to 'Inside Sleeve' and hear music that I otherwise wouldn't know about/listen to or I just sing out loud to my heart's content ..whatever song pops into my head at the time!
Bob: Chariots of Fire!
What's your favourite thing about Tasmania?
Rita: It is a 'jewel'...it has 'all the best bits of the other states, in one tiny island'...and is largely devoid of crowds and traffic jams. Amazing produce and scenery.
Bob: The space!
What's Tassie's best kept secret?
Rita: A lot of really beautiful and often short walks are hidden away but just off a main road...you just have to look out for the often small signs...then be blown away by what you find!
Bob: The climate… everyone thinks it rains here every day, whereas that isn't the case. Temperatures as a 'number' don't give the true 'feeling'...11C can feel 'warm' if it's sunny and not windy! We have four lovely seasons.
What would you be doing if life had taken a different turn?
Rita: I'd be travelling around the world, doing whatever jobs came my way to keep on travelling!
Bob: Looking for something else to throw myself in to...eg plant breeding or having a nursery somewhere.
What are you looking forward to at the VIN Diemen event?
Rita: Seeing customers from previous 'Tas Unbottled' events and getting new ones... and hoping to get a distributor in NSW and Queensland.
Bob: Showing our product- just how good our wines are!
