Tasmania Unbottled 2014

Thank you to everyone that came along to the Tasmania Unbottled 2014 events. We all had a great time and look forward to seeing you at the 2015 events or to welcoming you to Tasmania in the meantime!

The Tasmania Unbottled event offers the opportunity for wine enthusiasts, trade and media to try more than 150 of the island’s wines, many of which are rarely seen outside Tasmania, alongside regional cider, food and tourism offerings.

The 2014 event again comprised separate tastings for wine enthusiasts and qualified wine buying trade / media. Masterclasses were presented, tailored for these audiences, building on the success of the masterclasses held in previous years. The trade masterclass was an invitation-only session, focusing on 2013 Single Barrel Selections, whilst the public masterclass guided participants through some of Tasmania's top sparkling tipples, with wine producers on hand to discuss and present their wines.

The 2014 event also comprised a range of surrounding Tasmanian-focused activities in each city, including feature winemaker dinners at prominent restaurants and tastings hosted by specialist retailers. You can view these surrounding events by clicking here for further details.

The event dates and locations were as follows, with the trade / media tasting held from 2.00-5.00pm and the public tasting held from 5.30-8.30pm in each city:

    Tuesday 5 August 2014 - MELBOURNE, Zinc at Federation Square, Melbourne
    Thursday 7 August 2014 - BRISBANE, Emporium Hotel, Fortitude Valley
    Monday 11 August 2014 - SYDNEY, Dockside, Cockle Bay Wharf, Darling Harbour

Participation varied in each city, as outlined below (M = Melbourne, B = Brisbane, S = Sydney):

Participating Tasmanian wine producers included Abel's Tempest by Heemskerk (M), Barringwood (S), Bay of Fires/House of Arras (MBS), Bream Creek (MBS), Brook Eden (MS), Clover Hill (MBS), Dalrymple (MBS), Delamere (MBS), Devil's Corner/Tamar Ridge (MBS), Glaetzer Dixon (MS), Grey Sands (MBS), Holm Oak (MBS), Jansz (MBS), Josef Chromy (MBS), Moores Hill (M), Moorilla (MS), Nocton Vineyards (MBS), Pipers Brook (MBS), Pirie/SOUTH TASMANIA (MBS), Spring Vale Vineyards (MS), Stefano Lubiana Wines (MS) and Tolpuddle Vineyards (MBS).

Participating Tasmanian cider producers included Frank’s Cider, Pagan Cider (MS) and the Spreyton Cider Company (MS). Tourism offerings from the Maria Island Walk and www.shoretours.com.au were also presented as part of the 2014 events.
