Tasmania Unbottled 2013



This year's prize winners have now been drawn. 

Lynne Horwood of Fitzroy North has won a return trip for two to Tasmania for her response to our registration question - "What is your favourite Tasmanian wine and why?".  This fantastic prize includes return airfares for two people courtesy of Tourism Tasmania, car rental courtesy of Red Spot Car Rentals, accommodation in Hobart and Launceston courtesy of Innkeepers and complimentary tastings courtesy of Pipers Brook, Willie Smiths Organic Cider, Goaty Hill and Moorilla Estate. Jodene Jackson of Sydney has won a mixed case of Tasmanian wine for completing the post-event survey.

Thank you to our supporting wine trade, media and members of the public attending the Tasmania Unbottled 2013 event in July / August.

This year's event featured more than 175 wine producers, 13 ciders, Petuna seafood, Yondover Farmhouse Cheese and tourism offerings from the Spirit of Tasmania, Maria Island Walk and Herbaceous Tours across events in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne.

In Sydney and Melbourne, the public tasting included a wine and seafood masterclass at 6.30-7.30pm, featuring the iconic Tasmanian Petuna Ocean Trout and Atlantic Salmon by Peter & Una Rockliff and hosted by wine writer Winsor Dobbin.

A separate trade / media tasting session was held in each city, including a comprehensive masterclass exclusively for Sommeliers Australia members. The trade masterclass focused on ‘Tasmania’s Unsung Varietal Heroes’, featuring a range of outstanding varieties and styles from the island, hosted by wine writer Winsor Dobbin.

Participating Tasmanian wine producers include Bay of Fires (SBM), Barringwood (S), Bream Creek (SBM), Cape Bernier (SM), Clover Hill (SBM), Dalrymple (SBM), Delamere (SM), Devil's Corner (SBM), Domaine A (SB), Frogmore Creek (SB), Ghost Rock (SBM), Glaetzer Dixon (SM), Goaty Hill (M), Grey Sands (SBM), Gryphonwood Vineyards (SM), Heemskerk (SBM), Holm Oak (SBM), Home Hill (M), House of Arras (SBM), Jansz (SBM), Josef Chromy (SBM), Moores Hill (M), Moorilla (SM), Native Point (SM), Pipers Brook (SM), Pirie Tasmania (SBM), Pooley Wines (SM), SOUTH (SBM), Stefano Lubiana Wines (SBM) and Tamar Ridge (SBM).

Tasmanian produce was provided by Petuna Seafoods (SBM) and Yondover Farmhouse cheese (SM), cider participants included Frank’s Cider (SBM), Holm Oak (SBM), Pagan Cider (SBM), Spreyton Cider Company (M) and Willie Smith's Organic Cider (SM), whilst tourism offerings included the Maria Island Walk (SBM), Spirit of Tasmania (SBM) and Herbaceous Tours (M).

A range of surrounding Tasmanian wine activities including feature winemaker dinners at prominent restaurants and tastings hosted by specialist retailers was also held.
